Through socially defined expectations, the physical self is in a constant state of disrepair – always persuaded to believe in the necessity of an alteration, improvement, or disguise. Paralleling multiple meanings and identity in life, some of the layers were physically pulled or torn off while others were physically altered or applied. This process is confronting the active attempting to reach an unattainable aesthetic ideal.
