CALLING AMERICA
Program 1 : The March on the Pentagon
The first installment of Calling America takes place amidst the backdrop of the March on the Pentagon, March 17, 2007. A diverse group of activists, each traveling from various parts of the country, were asked to keep a journal for the week leading up to the march. Each participant telephoned in from home and the road and offered a daily spoken word journal entry in which they reflected on their geographic, mental, spiritual and political journeys to Washington D.C. The telephone calls formed the basis for a collective moblog on which the participant's daily reports, thoughts and meditations were documented. The project's aim is to provide an intimate look into the personal and political lives of a group of individuals brought together, at a critical point in history, to engage in direct democratic action.
